Welcome to Scene ("the App"), operated by Scene (referred to as "we", "us", or "our"). By downloading, accessing, or using the App, you agree to these Terms and Conditions ("Terms"). If you do not agree to these Terms, do not use the App.

1. Eligibility

• You must be 18 years or older to use Scene.
• Access to events involving alcohol requires users to be 21+.
• Scene offers certain features only to verified college students, which requires registration with a college email.

2. Accounts & Registration

Some features require an account. To create an account, you must provide:

• Email address
• Verification via one-time code
• Profile details (name, profile photo, etc.)

You agree to:

• Provide accurate information
• Keep your account secure
• Not impersonate others
• Not use the app for unlawful behavior or harassment

We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms.

3. Guest Mode

Users may browse public events, maps, and preview content without registering. Guests cannot:

• RSVP
• Create events
• Message hosts
• Access profiles
• View private events

Any feature involving personal data requires login.

4. User Content

Users may share:

• Event details
• Photos
• Messages
• RSVPs

You retain ownership of your content but grant Scene a license to:

• Display, distribute, and use content within the App
• Moderate, remove, or restrict content that violates these Terms

Prohibited content includes:

• Hate speech or harassment
• Illegal substances
• Violence or threats
• Misleading, dangerous, or fraudulent events
• Pornographic or explicit content
• Anything violating local laws or campus policies

5. Event Hosting Responsibilities

If you create or host an event, you agree that:

• You are solely responsible for the safety, legality, and accuracy of the event
• Scene is not responsible for event outcomes
• You comply with all local, campus, and state laws (including alcohol laws)

Scene is not liable for disputes between users.

6. Location Use

Scene uses approximate and precise location to:

• Show nearby public events
• Improve recommendations
• Display maps
• Help users find event locations

You may disable location services at any time, but some features may not work as intended. We never access location without explicit permission.

7. Prohibited Conduct

You agree not to:

• Use the app to stalk or harass
• Post harmful or illegal content
• Host unsafe or unregulated parties
• Attempt to bypass age verification
• Abuse the RSVP or messaging system
• Scrape or reverse engineer the app
• Create accounts using fake emails or identities

8. Third-Party Services

Scene uses:

• Supabase Auth (authentication)
• Supabase Database (event, profile, and message storage)

By using the App, you agree to their respective terms.

9. Data Deletion

When you delete your account:

• All personal data, messages, RSVPs, and profile information are permanently deleted from our databases.
• Event content you posted may remain visible to RSVP'd users but will be anonymized.

10. Disclaimer

Scene provides information for convenience only. We:

• Do not control the events posted
• Are not responsible for user behavior
• Do not guarantee safety of events
• Are not responsible for damages, harm, or losses arising from event attendance

Use the app at your own risk.

11. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law:

• Scene is not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages
• Our total liability shall not exceed the amount you paid to use the App (typically $0)

12. Termination

We may suspend or terminate accounts that:

• Violate these Terms
• Endanger other users
• Post harmful content
• Abuse the platform

Users may delete their accounts at any time.
